Modeleers Field

 Modeleers Field is our primary field. Located about three miles north of Wellington, CO, this field is more out of the way than our other site. This makes it much more suitable for larger models. The open fields surrounding the runway also provide excellent thermals for gliders. An onsite weather station is available for checking conditions before heading out for a day of flying.  

The field features two taxiways, shade shelter, seven pilot stations, and an overall runway size of 400' x 35'.  

The runway consists of two materials. An asphalt portion measuring 250' x 35' makes up the center of the landing surface. This is augmented by Contech fabric extensions placed on each end of the asphalt portion. Contech fabric is an industrial grade landscaping fabric and is perfectly suitable for landings.

Take exit 281 off of I-25. Turn east on Owl Canyon Road, and then north on County Road 5. Heading east on Owl Canyon Road, CR-5 will be the first left you can make after the interstate. The field will be on the East side of County Road 5.
